Abstract: Close encounters of the second kind include UFOs that are observed at a reasonably close range and leave some trace of its passing on the environment. I have not given it that classification. Although in this case the object did impact the environment, there is no report of permanant physical disruption of the environs. Therefore I had to classify it as a CE-I left traces of its apparition by sound as well as vibration. The eyewitness sounds sincere, and the evidence of this nature is nil to none. The reporter writes: "Object moved about 15 to 20 mph. Had a dark mass with no visible wing or tail structures other than pronounced light visible under and forward of the object. I could have hit the underside of the object with a baseball if I had one in my hand at the time. The object could not be heard until it was almost directly overhead approaching me from the south and there was no detectable sound when it got about 100 to 150 feet to the North of me. The object moved very slow over the rooftops of our block and straight towards the superstition mountain range."

Sound: directly overhead low rumble and high pitched sound at same time, when 50 feet away no sound could be heard

Details/Markings: array of large white lights (6) running horizontally in front of the object approx 30 feet across. Lights were not set back as in a V shaped wing pattern but linear. Directly under object a solid red light approx 3-6 feet in diameter, aft end of the object had no lighting or noticeable lighting or exhaust lighting. Could not see any kind of shape with the exception of the lights and dark space / engine sound as it passed overhead
