I think that this is the genuine article. It is an apparition of the Virgin Mary. No joke, this one is real folks.
I‘ve been researching apparitions of the Virgin Mary for a number of decades, 25-30 years. I suppose I am considered (by some) to be an authority on this subject. The picture, which is in question on the KIRO- TV website is atypical of those attributed to the Virgin Mary.
These appearances are often closely associated with UFO activity, angels as well as devils. Some say these are a trick of light and shadow, smoke and mirrors. I would be inclined to accept that if it were not for the sheer number of apparitions reported and the remarkable (if not miraculous) events surrounding her appearances.

The girls laughed, but turned to look back. To their astonishment, they beheld a luminous figure clothed in white, gliding above the tracks." - Ray Stanford (Reference-1)
Had it not been for the fact that the Blessed Virgin Mary (or "BVM") usually appears to young children, usually girls under the age of 14 and pre-puberty, I would probably dismiss the recent case from Washington State as just another hoax photograph and/or the product of an amateur photographer. But this particular case has all of the earmarks of a genuine apparition.

FOOTNOTES: "What I found most unfortunate were the leading questions asked by the reporter. This clearly showed the reporters lack of training and inexperience with matters of this nature. When he asked “Did it scare you or [?] make you feel comfortable” to which she replied “well its kind of creepy but also a little exciting…” she then looked to her friend for approval. This is often the case when untrained investigators interview people who have seen a UFO. A great deal of critical and valuable information is lost due to questioning of this nature.
