Chicken are Killed by Chupacabras: In Sorocaba, state of São Paulo, 30 chikens that the merchant Laércio Longo preserved locked in a chicken coop, in Parque São Bento, appeared dead in the last friday. The canvas of the aviary were untouched and none of the chikens had been devoured by the predator. The chikens showed holes in it's body and had no blood, according the merchant. The eggs in the nest were not touched. "What happened here is a mystery", said Laércio, attributing the attack to the Chupacabras. This was the secund attack occurred in the neighborhood this year. Four months ago, according Laércio, the chiken's neighborhood were killed in the same circumstances. Ten days ago, two attacks happened in Cesário Lange, that killed 8 goats and 2 sheeps, was attributed to the Chupacabras. The veterinarian Rodrigo Teixeira, from the Sorocaba Minucipal Zoo, said that this attacks could be done by domestic dogs. Beyond the men, only the dogs kill without the need of food. According Ricardo a wild animal in a aviary with 30 chikens never killed all in once, ending it's source of food.

CHUPA'S Update

Fellas, last firday I sent a e-mail about a supposed attack of the Chupacabras in Parque São Bento, in Sorocaba, state of Sao Paulo. Today I spoke by phone with Dr. Rodrigo Teixeira, veterinarian of the Sorocaba Municipal Zoo, and he reaffirmed to me that what killed that chickens was a wild animal.

He is a veterinarian for 26 years.

Dr. Rodrigo informed that the spotts found on the chicken's body were made by "terrestrials" animals. According him the probables "killers" could be the saringué ( a small rat), or a wild cat or a skunk. He sad that the chicken weigh 1,5kg and have about 7 ml. of blood (that's little blood). This blood when poured on the floor is fast absorbed, or is sucked by the predator. Blood is very interesting to the wild animals. It has a lot of minerals that the animals love.

The eggs got untouchable on the nest because the only animal that could eat them could be the skunk. The canvas of the aviary were intacts, and he said: "You never saw a prisioner run away of a prison? So, the animals sometimes can be more "smart" than the "animal-man". Dr. Rodrigo don't reject the possibility thatthe responsables can be a domestic dog or even a man joking.

"I don't believe in Chupacabras. All the animals killed supposedly by tha Chupacabras that a made the autopsy there's nothing strange. I found as well hairs in the place of the attacks and were the same of the wild dogs".
