These stages of sleep are called the hympnopompic and hypnogogic. The person is neither awake (__) nor asleep (__) but somewhere in-between. This would be time where daily experience and portions of our dreams blend together. It is often associated with feelings of paralysis. This is one of the medical profession’s pat explanations for this type of experience but it doesn’t adequately explain the event reported by the experiencer. Jung said “An exclusively intellectual approach is bound to be from 50 to 75 percent unsatisfactory.” Further data is necessary before we can rule this out. Jung was a well-known psychoanalyst that had a healthy medical practice. He was very knowledgeable about the workings of the human mind. His research revealed that a dream might involve archetypes symbols and images that are used by the mind to sort out the numerous events that occur during our lifetime. Imagery used during our dreams may predate our racial history and genetic memory and have been used by mankind to express such things as worship (phallus) or completeness (the sphere or orb). If the image described in the Tucson, AZ case were the remnants of a dream, than it would have been very similar to a classic case involving archetypes, evaluated by Jung. The report in hand suggests that this particular image did not appear during a dream state. Given the sometimes-unpredictable nature of the human psyche, it remains a possibility. A television program provided the visual stimulation that triggered their mind to bring forth an old and buried memory. Judging by the strangeness of his experience, it suggests that he hadn’t any closure from the experience. The reports that I have reviewed postulate that the aliens understand our minds with absolute clarity. This opens the possibility that they are using these mechanisms to manipulate and control us. This experience may be forced, repressed or manipulated by these creatures.
